USAID Performance Accountability Activity (PAA)

Projects
The USAID Performance Accountability Activity (PAA) is a 5-year program aimed at capacity building and institutional strengthening of local governments and civil society, including CSOs and traditional authorities. It is building on existing Ghanaian strategies, programs and capacities, and leverage related support being provided by USAID and other donors to reinforce ongoing Ghanaian efforts to promote transparent, accountable and inclusive local governance over five years.

The PAA is being implemented in 70 districts in ten (10) regions across the country, made up of 47 out of 55 districts across the Upper West, Upper East, Northern, Northeast and Savannah regions, and the remaining 23 out of 78 districts across the Oti, Volta, Western, Western North and Central regions.

PAA is being coordinated by Democracy International (DI) and Africa Disability Institute (ADI) implementing PAA in the Ketu South and Keta Municipals in the Volta Region, as well as Nkwanta South Municipal and Nkwanta North District in the Oti Region. We are specifically working in five (5) communities in each of the 4 target districts, focusing on the improvement of delivery of basic education, healthcare, water, and water/sanitation (WASH), agriculture and fisheries services in these communities.

Further to this, the 4 target Municipal and District Assemblies and their respective WASH, Agriculture, Health, Fisheries, and Education Service sectors, are the key stakeholders and facilitators for the project.
